Gawyn Mitchell
Attorney at Law
Gawyn Mitchell has been helping clients navigate bankruptcy for over 35 years. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in History and earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi in 1984. Gawyn is a member of both the Mississippi and Georgia Bar Associations.
Before founding his law firm in Columbus, he served as a B52 pilot in Vietnam, an Air Force instructor pilot at Columbus Air Force Base, and later, a member of the Mississippi Air National Guard until his retirement in 2006. His military discipline and legal experience have shaped a practice built on professionalism, empathy, and trust.
Gawyn’s career includes partnerships in several respected firms across Mississippi and Georgia before establishing his own practice, where he’s been helping clients find fresh starts since 1995.
Jennifer Merchant
Office Manager
Jennifer oversees daily operations at our firm with a strong focus on efficiency, communication, and client service. Originally from Ripley, Tennessee, Jennifer brings years of administrative experience to the team and plays a key role in making sure the office runs smoothly for both staff and clients.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on her son Ethan at baseball games.
Suzie Lowery
Legal Assistant
Suzie has been part of the Mitchell Law team for over 14 years and is known for her kindness, attention to detail, and strong work ethic. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University and an Associate’s degree in Accounting from East Mississippi Community College.
Suzie is deeply involved in her community and church, where she sings in the choir, teaches Sunday School, and serves on the preschool committee. She lives in Columbus with her husband Billy and their two children, Addison and Eli.
Brittany Griffin
Legal Assistant
Brittany joined our team in 2017 and brings energy, empathy, and organization to every client interaction. A native of Caledonia, Mississippi, she now lives in New Hope with her young son Braxton. Brittany’s favorite pastimes include weekend lake trips, cheering on her son in sports, and enjoying the outdoors.
Clients appreciate her warm personality and her ability to make a stressful process feel a little easier.
